A shipwreck has been found on Dinotopia’s shores—as well as evidence that it came from the outside world. When Karl receives a distress call from the survivors, a return to civilisation is again an option for the Scott family. But for Marion, losing her new friends—especially Karl—is only part of her fear. If the castaways are guided to Dinotopia, this hidden paradise will be revealed to the outside world with disastrous results. Now, with time running out for those stranded at sea, Karl does all he can to guide them to safety. Though what rewards await him for such a noble effort?

For in the walled village of Blackhaven, no one has even heard of Dinotopia. All they know is their insane, irrational fear of “the beast,” whom Karl is about to meet. His sole hope lies with his family and friends in Waterfall City—if only they knew where to find him.
